SCC Rugby Academy

The SCC Rugby Academy was founded in January 2012 by members of the Singapore Cricket Club’s rugby section keen to offer the best possible playing and development experience for children from the age of four years and upwards. The Academy has now grown to more than 600 members offering Touch and Rugby training from U4 to U17 for boys and girls. We offer a seamless transition into SCC U19s (Colts) rugby and into the senior rugby section of the SCC, one of the founding aims of the Academy.

The Academy prides itself on a mix of local Singaporean players and expats. Our players attend more than 100 different schools across Singapore and firm friendships flourish on and off the pitch, fostering cultural understanding and appreciation.

We offer scholarships to local players who show aptitude for the game and a commitment to the club. We strive to offer the best possible training and experience for all our members.

The SCC Rugby Academy is open to members of the Singapore Cricket Club and to non-members alike and is intended to provide a real “Club” opportunity for players for a life-long playing affiliation with the SCC and Rugby. With the SCC regularly fielding 5 adult teams and providing more than half of the Singapore National Squad, the Academy provides tomorrow’s stars with the opportunity to develop in a real team environment akin to the best clubs in rugby playing nations such as the UK, South Africa, France, Australia and New Zealand.

Touring and Tournaments are an important part of the Academy calendar. The Academy organises an annual “All Academy” tour to KL, as well as bespoke age group tours to locations such as Paris, Perth and Dubai, plus on a number of occasions we have joined with the Senior Section to jointly tour and play in HK, on alternate years competing against HKFC and Valley. The highlight of the year is our Junior 7s Tournament, held on Singapore’s historic Padang field, running alongside the renowned SCC International 7s.

Training is on Saturday and Sunday mornings at the SCC Dempsey training ground. Interested players can come and try out.
